FAQ

Q. Where are you located and how far do you travel?

A. We are located in the beautiful township of Spring Prairie in Walworth County. We service Kenosha, Racine, Walworth, Eastern Rock, Jefferson, Waukesha, and Milwaukee Counties. We also estimate and perform large projects outside of our regular service area.

Q. Do you charge for estimates?

A. No, estimates are 100% free and at no obligation. Most estimates for smaller jobs are available at time of scheduled 15-minute appointment. Larger projects require slightly more time for estimating and can be emailed to you usually within 24 hours of scheduled appointment.

Q. What are your rates?

A. Rates are as follows, effective January 1, 2010: Service Calls- $99, includes first 15 minutes of diagnostics/labor. Labor is billed out at $79/hour per plumber. Estimates are available upon request.

Q. What are your payment terms?

A. Payment terms vary depending on the type of job. Service calls require a minimum $99 down payment, the remaining balance, if any, can be paid at time of service or billed out, due upon receipt.

Q. What types of payment do you accept?

A. We accept cash, personal check (with driver’s license), business check, money order, all debit cards, credit cards (including Discover, not American Express).

Q. Do you offer any free financing?

A. Established customers in good standing are able to take advantage of our 50% down, 25% net 30 and remaining 25% due net 60 from date of service. Interest is assessed at 1.5% monthly, compounded.

Q. What are your hours?

A. Regular business hours begin at 8:00 am and end at 5:00 pm. Jobs often start earlier and end later, depending on the situation and length of job. We make every effort to accommodate special requests to meet the needs of our customers.

Q. Do you provide Emergency Service and how much more will it cost?

A. Of course. We are available nights, weekends, and holidays. When you call, a technician can help troubleshoot and decide the severity of the problem. If you have a clogged toilet, but have another toilet that is working, you might want to wait until the following business day to save some money. If it’s raining in your basement and you can’t find the water shut off valve to your house- that might be a better reason for emergency service. Emergency Service (nights, weekends & holidays) is billed at time and half.

Q. Are you an eco-friendly company?

A. We try to do everything within our power to make sure we stay on top of the latest trends in eco-friendly products. We offer tankless water heaters, recirculation pumps, and other energy efficient products. Reverse Osmosis drinking systems allow customers to save on bottled water by making their own for pennies on the dollar. In the office, estimates and invoices are emailed whenever possible, saving on paper. Faxing is done electronically and what little paper we do use is utilized on both sides before recycling. We recycle all old/non-working water heaters and water softeners. Jobs are scheduled in a manner that reduces unnecessary driving and we strive towards reducing and eliminating our carbon footprint on this beautiful planet.

Q. What does Water Care mean?

A. Water Care is simply the idea and awareness of taking care of your water- the very water you put into your body and use within your house and your environment. Water is continuously being recycled for use and that is where Water Care comes into the picture. For several years, we have been an Authorized Dealer of WaterCare water treatment products. We like their name and what they stand for. We fully support the WaterCare vision and have established a meaningful relationship with them. You will find no better service for your water treatment needs than with Fox Plumbing & Water Care and WaterCare© Corporation.

Q. Do you test water?

A. Yes! We come to your establishment and test your water on-site, leaving you with a report of findings. Water is tested and analyzed for pH/Acidity, Calcium & Magnesium, Iron, Total Hardness, Total Dissolved Solids, and Nitrates. If tannins are suspected, we send a water sample for off-site testing, free of charge. Lead testing is available for a nominal charge. “Safe Water Testing” is usually performed by state-certified labs that can determine Bacteria, Nitrates, Lead, Copper, Arsenic, and Pesticides in water. The Department of Natural Resources has a website to address homeowner water concerns for well water at http://www.dnr.state.wi.us/org/es/science/lc/LABS/What2Test4.htm .

Q. What are your licensing and certification criteria and associations?

A. Chris Fox, owner, holds a valid State of Wisconsin Master Plumber License (#639363) and Fox Plumbing & Water Care is a Registered Building Contractor with the Wisconsin Department of Commerce (ID 1104133). We employ state licensed Master Plumbers, Journeymen, and Apprentices and work under the guidelines of non-union plumbing contractors of the Wisconsin Department of Commerce. Q. Why do I notice that sometimes you charge tax and other times you don’t?

A. Tax is charged on all service calls and repairs, and salt delivery. Tax is not charged on new installations (water treatment equipment, sump pumps, garbage disposals, etc), new construction or remodeling projects. Tax is charged based on the county in which the work is performed.

Q. What is your warranty policy?

A. We warranty all workmanship on products from one year of installation date, and honor all manufacturers warranties on products purchased and installed by Fox Plumbing & Water Care.

Q. Can I purchase all my fixtures and have you install them?

A. You can, but considering we cannot warranty any products not purchased through us, it is worth the minimal mark-up we charge, which is often times below MSRP, to guarantee warranty on workmanship and product for one year from date of installation. If you choose to supply your own fixtures, Fox Plumbing & Water Care will charge an additional $25 per fixture installed.
